Navigating College Admissions for Immigrant, Undocumented, & Refugee Students & Families

We will welcome guest speakers Emily Sanchez and Dr. Laurely Caycho Mantilla. Emily currently serves as a Promise Zone Success Coordinator through Grand Rapids Community College, where she supports Grand Rapids Public Schools students and their families to navigate post-secondary options. Dr. Caycho Mantilla comes to us from Georgia Southern University, where she currently serves as the Director of the Office of Student Engagement and Support. In her role, Dr. Caycho Mantilla supports campus-wide mentorship and oversees the REACH program, which aims to influence the postsecondary success, and ultimately life outcomes, of low-income students across Georgia.

We will explore Dr. Caycho Mantilla's doctoral research on the experience of undocumented, immigrant, and refugee students and their families. Later, we will discuss Emily's direct role in supporting these student populations through her work with the Grand Rapids Promise Zone. There will be Q&A and open discussion throughout the webinar - we want to hear from you too!
